Haha, I've heard that one before. They are all pretty much the same and you have a lot going on there. All the different size holes, and all of the hand filing for the scallops on the front and back straps. Still an easy job just very time consuming. I'm happy to help out so just hit me up when your ready!

I used the first technique with jeans to make some 1911 grips. Turned out pretty well for a first attempt, I'm waiting til I have the time and space to start making knives and then I will do this to make the handles. Didn't think of construction paper though...that looks really good!

Careful with the G10 Spleify. Inhalation of the dust is known to cause cancer in a couple states, but I see you mentioned taking precautions. I have machined both materials, and the G10 is a tool eating son-of-a-gun.
I've seen RIT dye used with Denim Micarta for the final finish as well. Looks really good. Nice work.
