How about a good old fashion catapulting? If a random direction proves ineffective we can pay someone to build a big wall.

I think our death penalty is ineffective because criminals understand it's still a good 10 - 20 years before anything happens. Not saying China would be a good place to live but I think their policies would actually have an impact on criminals thought process.

In May 2007, Zheng was convicted of taking bribes and dereliction of duty and sentenced to death by a trial court in Beijing. Zheng entered an appeal for leniency on June 12, saying that the sentence was "too severe" citing the fact that he had confessed his crimes and cooperated with investigators. However, the court ruled that he was a "great danger" to the country and its reputation. The appeal was rejected on June 22 and he was executed on July 10, 2007

These repeat felons don't give a shit about the Constitution or your rights as they beat you to death with baseball bats, after forcing you to watch the rape and slow death of your wife. YEAH THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. NOT AT ALL.

I've seen the results 3 x how a leinent court and parole system failed, first hand. PLEA BARGAIN MY ASS. I'd donate my ammo , time and firearm to make sure the sentence was carried out.

No one asked me but, I don't think the main purpose of capital punishment is to prevent crime, but rather to dispose of those who have committed crimes heinous enough to be disposed of.

Try getting some of the "liberal" mind set on this board to see that. OH BOO HOO a violent repeat offender is going to suffer needlessly, while being executed. OH the Horror.
The horror the family of the victim suffers through. The horror how much is spent, on review after review. The horror we are taxed, for their incarceration. The horror of tv, movie, book deals some leach receives for "bringing to light the injustice" mumia abdual jamar went through.
    Yeah Right.

Nah, being drawn & quartered is not cruel. Launched in a catapult is not unusual.
Someone who has been tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death has earned a death at the hands of the state. A gunshot to the head is a humane was to do this, more so than drugs in my opinion. Torturing someone to death as some here are advocating is not allowable, even if it was not expressly forbidden in the constitution.

Torture is a worthless waste of time. The point of the death penalty isn't that it is scary for the person, or that it hurts, it's that the criminal is beyond any chance of reprisal and needs to be eliminated. Personally, and I'm sure others would disagree, I don't see the merit in torturing before killing. The criminal won't learn a lesson. Even if they DO learn a lesson, you are still killing them after, so it doesn't matter. So why waste the time? Put them down, put them in the ground, move on. Absolutely no need for fan fare.

Neither is murder, why not give felons something to really think about besides 3 hots and a cot.

I thought this thread was about 3 hots, a cot, and a bullet in the morning. Did I miss something?

One 50 BMG round to the chest at 10 yards would do the trick nicely I think. That or...wait for it...ITS SLEDGE-O-MATIC!!!! The victims/victims families could have a plastic tarp like the front row at Gallagher's shows. Lol
