No it doesn't make sense...
No argument here, although the loss of ~1" of sight radius probably isn't going to make or break it. I concur with taking every advantage no matter how slight however.
But both of those issues are a long way from suggesting a major issue in my opinion. I stated that I have never heard a good reason why you "can't" do this, which from my reading of the original statement, is what was implied.
Again, I can't think of any reason to mount the sights backwards, but it's also not something that I feel the need to go out of my way to correct. There's been at least 5-6 times where I've encountered folks who felt that mounting the sights backwards would cause everything from a fire out of battery to spontaneous explosion of ammo within the mag to the barrel melting. Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but regardless, I guess I just don't see it as a big deal so long as the consequences are understood.
And no, my backup irons aren't mounted backwards.![]()
