    Default Craftsman tool?

About 20 years ago one of my shooting buddies gave me a few Craftsman tools and this "spin nailer" was included. I have never used it since I have no idea how it is supposed to work. There is a small rubber "O" ring which contains 3 small chrome bearings. Anyone know how these are to be used? Placed the quarter in the photo to show size of this thing.

Looks like a replacement head for a pneumatic nail gun

What's the part number on that piece?

I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Just looked up the patent number and although it reads as follows, I still don't understand how it functions.
A tool for setting nails or like linear fasteners in hard wood, concrete or other hard surfaces. The tool is usable in conjunction with a power implement having a rotary working portion, such as an electric drill, and is adapted to be secured in the rotary portion of the power implement for rotation therewith. The tool includes a first means to grip the nail head to effect rotation of the nail with the tool. The first means can include a novel wrench according to the invention. A second means engages the nail shank to axially align the nail with the axis of rotation of the working portion of the power implement. Manual pressure exerted through the power implement advances the rotating nail into the surface.

Sounds like its to be used with a hammer drill, down force on the drill and the hammer drill action drive the nail.

    Literally, a "Spin Nailer."

It drills a nail into hard material.

It's used with small headed finish nails to prevent splitting, use a regular drill just push then set.

Many thanks guys. Now I know what to do with it. It'll go right back in the tool drawer and remain in it's brand spanking NEW condition.
