Default Questions for Ben Lomond Gun Club members

How good/bad are the access roads to BLGC? My car is not awd or 4wd so being able to get in/out when the weather gets sketchy is a concern.

Also, do you know if they're taking new members?

I am not a member but do go out with others from time to time. The roads are great, not paved but in good condition. Also, they are accepting new menbers, no wait.

I am a 2nd year member and I can tell you most of the time they are great getting to the range, they are all county and state owned roads. It is the roads in the range that can be tricky. They laid down gravel a few months ago which as helped but when there is a big snow storm or a ton of rain the roads are clay and become very slippery. People go through there with their 4wd and it craps up the roads. I do not have 4wd and I go a lot. 95% of the time there are no issues, the other 5%, stay home!

I'm a member and I think they're fine. Ever been to the South Site down north of Woodland Park? BLGC's road are 100x better than that!

No waiting for memberships either, AFAIK.

There is a paved road that goes right past the entrance...then its just 150 yards or so of dirt driveway and parking lot...

Has the road in been graded? Last time I was down there, there were washouts all over the place that would swallow a car right up to the axles. I'd be scared to death to try driving in there with snow on the ground or after dark. And I recall there's roads/paths/trails going all over the place.

You need to attend a meeting and have your pic taken for your name badge and be voted in. However, I think you can do it at any chapter meeting. I joined at the Franktown chapter and then switched to Littleton (there wasn't a Littleton chapter when I joined)
