Default Co-workers problem with Cabelas transfer.

Co worker of mine is 20. Bought a full PSA lower with stock etc. Ergo, no possibility of being a serial registered/being considered a pistol right?

When he went to pick it up, Cabelas including the manager, refused to transfer it to him as they told him it was an "other" and shipped it back this morning.

I might be missing some details as this was just at shift change, but just checking if I'm missing some law/misunderstood what AR parts are considered what at different stages. Or if I'm right and Cabelas is dumb.

Just a wild guess on my part. Perhaps those under 21 can only purchase a long gun?

Don't really know. Just a guess. I'm sure someone with an FFL will be along shortly.

Cabelas screwed the poochy. If it was a bare reciever then yes, designation as "Other" would apply.
If it was shipped from the manufacturer with a buttstock then designation as a "Rifle" applies.
To the best of my knowledge.
A non prohibited person age 18 and over can purchase a long gun.

    What Bert said.

Additionally... Why in the world would you use a big box retailer for just a transfer????

I told him not to use them. He's young and clueless about finding independant small ffl's to transfer. He said cabelas was 50 vs 75 at some other place.

I'll send him this thread. He said he argued with a manager, wonder who he should file a follow up complaint with.

    Thornton location?
General Manager's name is Brent Lakoko (SP? on last name) extension # 8020 when you call the main Thornton number. I just dealt with him on an issue i just posted about in the review thread.

Not to be mean but give him a bitch slap and explain that the cost of his mistakes are the price of his education and a Harvard education is a hefty price to pay. Make sure he pays attention next time some one attempts to help and mentor him.

Trying to save $25 cost him a bunch more.
If Cabelas sent it back, have him contact the seller and explain what happened, they will probably charge him a processing fee and shipping again, then have it reshipped to a different FFL. Tell him to shop around, he can find a better price for a receiving FFL and probably beat even the $50 fee that Cabelas is charging.

Plus I would rather support a local FFL on this site than a big box store.
