In my experience if a warrant was issued the gun store will usually call the police and wait while the person is still in the store.
Once a moron behind the counter thought I had a warrant and didn't and once I was the person arresting for the warrant.
I always figure there is more to every story, but this person is usually pretty honest with me and couldn't think of any tickets or other issues that would stop her from getting a gun
When the dealer submits the info off of the 4473 to CBI they do not know if there is an active warrant. If they do know you have an active warrant by law they would have to refuse to run the background check.
I have seen a couple of occurances where their was a wanted person attempting to purchase a firearm. CBI called the dealer by phone and advised them that the individual has an active warrant. They then asked the dealer to stall the individual if safely possible and L.E. was notified and on the way.
Both resulted in arrest of the individual without incident.
