Speaking in Washington, President Barack Obama said the nation should be ashamed of its inability to get tougher gun restrictions through Congress in the aftermath of mass shootings that he said have become commonplace in America.
"Our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There's no advanced, developed country on Earth that would put up with this," he said in response to a question about gun violence.
Most members of Congress are "terrified" of the National Rifle Association, the President said, adding that nothing will change until public opinion demands it.
"The country has to do some soul searching about this. This is becoming the norm, and we take it for granted, in ways that as a parent are terrifying to me," Obama said.
Prepare to be steamrolled by congress. I feel some big bullshit is heading our way.

Huh? When I was teenager attending Boulder High in the early 90's, we owned one gun safe, and I kept the keys to it, having access to pretty much anything I wanted at anytime. If the only thing keeping your kid from going on a shooting spree is the lock on your gun safe, you have got WAY MORE SERIOUS problems than just firearm access...
My son is eight now, and I plan on the his gun rack up in his room later this summer for his BB gun(s).
What ADVANCED countries is the lying ass MOFO talking about.
If they couldn't get anything through congress after Sandy Hook they aren't getting anything through congress ever. Period.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some drastic over-reach via executive order. But other than that his words are impotent rantings of a man losing more and more power every day.

I had access to all my father's guns while I was in high school. My parents taught me responsibility but they also took an active interest in my life. It's not the availability of guns or even the kinds of guns available, if the AR and the AK were responsible fore mass shootings, we'd have seen these shootings happen 50 years ago. I don't know how much the media can use this, because all they care about is body count.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim. May these horrible events stop soon.
I don't make the rules. I just think them up and write them down.
Honest to God I don't know what annoys me more in the wake of these kind of shootings; the "OMG we need gun control now!" bleating from the anti gun leftist useful idiots or the "OMG They're surely going to take our guns now!" bleating from some fools in our camp.
