Ye olde school. Hollywood has been doing remakes forever. They often would take a foreign film or story and 'Muricanize it, even in the olden days.
There are certainly many remakes that we certainly haven't needed....and they were losers at the box office. Vote with your wallet.
Liberals never met a slippery slope they didn't grease.

I liked the Mad Max series except for Thunderbone.
"remakes" generally suck IMO. I can think of one that didn't..."The Thing"...Carpenter did a good job on that one.
Is this a trend?
I'll watch it but not expecting too much. A movie version of Five Finger Death Punch's House of the Rising Sun?
Mad Max unleashed a whole genre of B movies. Warriors of the Wasteland it the only one I can recall.
Edit: Battle Truck
The New Barbarians
Warriors of the Apocalypse
A Man Called Rage
I ate a lot of popcorn in those days.

You guys should read up a little.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Force_Patrol
The Black MFP cars were rare Pursuit Specials. The Interceptors were Yellow.
Looks like Fury Road is set in time after the first movie.
"In Mad Max 4: Fury Road, which takes place soon after the original and before the second installment, it is questioning will MFP still exist, since it's unknown if it takes place right after Max leaves the force, or right before the start of the second installment. It is possible that it has disbanded soon after Max left with the loss of funds and officers."
EDIT: Just found this:
Mad Max 4: Fury Road
The original Pursuit Special will appear in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road film, set to be released in 2015. Since it was confirmed that the film takes place before Road Warrior, it will bear more resemblance to the Pursuit Special from the original film, rather than the one from Road Warrior, and it will be featured and used in almost all the stunts during the whole film, unlike its predecessors. There was also a rumor that the car would be stripped of paint or repainted silver, but this has been denied.

My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."
Yeah, but the mechanic in Road Warrior specifically says "Last of the V8s, a piece of history"
Also, I read yesterday that Lord Humungus was originally supposed to be Goose, Max's motorcycle cop partner from the first movie. It was changed, but some elements are still there to suggest it (like the burns on Humungus' head and his group's use of police vehicles and firearms)

Good trailer, looks like fun.
I'll have to watch Mad Max and The Road Warrior again, Thunderdome was boring.
