First off very happy to know, you're on your way down.
Things to take away from this adventure
    1) a lot of folks stepped up to the plate

    2) fortunately there were a lot of people heading out or going to, once they heard from tmldr

    3) IF something like this were to repeat itself. A better line of communication is needed

    4) pick a main point of contact. This person is fielding calls, directing traffic so to speak.

    5) Designated point person. They are main vehicle going to downed board member, or members. Having a few vehicles is ideal. But having multiple vehicles getting lost, there would be 1/2 the board looking for the other half, at night.

    6) Backups in play . If designated isn't familiar with area / terrain, backups assist getting them to needed area and back. I reference backups in case point person is the closest OR ready to go. Even though they are not that familiar with area.
In an ideal situation, the person running point knows the area, blindfolded. But as with all things, one works with the tools on hand.

I am putting out ideas which I'm sure after reading later will be, What the hell is this gibberish? It's random thoughts put together . That everyone is more than welcome to critique, condemn as nonsense, make changes to major, minor or shitcan and start from scratch.

If anyone feels I'm out of line, putting out suggestions, by all means LMK either on or off the board.

Everyone have a safe rest of the night.

What Jim said... one problem is i don't know who's cb wasn't working. Texting was good for some time till I completely lost signal. Roaming the trails in the dark with a handful of forks on the road added more difficulty in this challenge. I came out as a back up.

    Thanks for the idea Mike.
Glow sticks to mark trail. Color coded, this way other drivers know which way they went.
Is everyone on cb, cell phone (texting or talking) walkie talkies, etc.common communication device for contact.

I went with cb. Was messaged to be on channel 4, but no replies after several transmitting attempts.

I need to pick up a CB for my ride....was also thinking maybe one of those handheld radios that they sell on amazon (saw in another thread), not sure what would work better in that type of terrain.....

At one point we were directly above him, a little more than 1000 feet higher, we couldn't see his lights, and he couldn't hear us honking our horns. We even walked down the trail he was on, but had no way of telling if he was there or not. CBs had VERY short range tonight, barely more than line of sight. We ended up going back to the trail head and systematicly clearing every trail, marking the map, then move to the next one.
Very happy it all worked out, got to meet some new GREAT people.

BTW, anyone have a decent used right side mirror for an '01 Expedition?
