Old beater + cheap tires = recaps. I've been buying from Treadwright for years, only had one problem (had a separated bead on one) and they sent a new tire after I sent them a picture. You'll have people say recaps are crap, but keep air pressure right in them and they are as good as anything. I use them on my F250, 90% of the time it has a trailer on it or is on gravel, or both. They don't last as long as virgins (I've got 34,000 on this set, tread isn't gone, but probably replace them for winter). I'm thinking I may try some tires www.tirerecappers.com this time since they include free shipping.

When you posted that I was excited to see if I could get cheaper tires for my trailers. gooseneck stock trailer, gooseneck flatbed trailer, assorted other trailers.. I guess I will just stick with used tires off craigslist.

Yeah, I guess for those smaller tires it's not so much of a price difference, but for my 10 ply LT265x75r16 they are $110-130, way better than the $170-240... I have gone to spending the money for new ST tires for my trailers that see much use, for beater around the farm trailers my local tire place will give me tires out of the "worn out" pile for $15, mounted.

You probably buy better tires than I do normally.
235 85 16 is actually a taller tire than the 265. the 265 is a little over an inch wider, but not as tall. all my tires are 10ply too. Essentialy they are the same height but 1 inch difference in width. 235 is the tire size that was on just about every 1 ton truck or trailer from the 1980-late 1990s, when they got stupid and started pushing 17", 20" and every other stupid wheel size.
I run 265s on my family van. I buy tires from M&O in Greeley for new. Most of my tires are used and come out of either M&O or Lopez tires on 8th ave in the Ghetto.
i hate putting expensive tires on trailers that get pulled infrequently. Thanks to Hickenlooper my registration for each trailer is bad enough. It sucks to drive a trailer on the road 2 or 3 times a year and have to pay their exhorbitant "fees".
