Had this on a trip to Germany a few years back and it was like crack. I swear I drank cases while I was there for a week. The sell it over at German Deli but I just can't justify the cost.

If you're referring to the blood sausage, it use to be a staple back in northern Maine. Haven't had it since I was 17.

With a little experimentation, you might be able to mock some up in your kitchen, if you have a sodastream.

    The ingredients are:
Water, Corn Syrup High Fructose, Citric Acid, Flavoring Natural, Flavors Natural Prickly Pear Cactus, Grapes Juice White, Agave Nectar, Astragalus Extract, Ginseng Extract, Pears Prickly Cactus Puree

It seems to me that you could locate the ingredients at Walmart: citric acid is in the canning section, white grape juice and agave is in grocery, astragalus and ginseng is in pharmacy. If they carry prickly pear, it's in grocery. If not, you'd likely find it at a store that carries Hispanic foods.

It's something to think about, if nothing else.

WHAT?!? Dammit! I am so sorry. I didn't think to check that part.

I'm not going to give up yet. I'm going to pull out my very best Google-Fu and see what else I can come up with. Standby!
