Default My dog got sprayed by a skunk

0615 this morning, I was awoken by the worst smell known to man. I got up and shut the window, thinking it was blowing in from the backyard. I then noticed our dog (white Pomeranian named Yeti) laying in his bed in the closet blinking excessively and licking his nose. I bent down to give him a wiff and felt like throwing up. I yelled down to the wife asking if she had let yeti out, and she said he had just come running back in. We didn't have any hydrogen peroxide, but made up a batch of tomato juice, baking soda, and dish soap to try to wash it off. Fortunately, I don't think he rubbed on anything but his dog bed.

I'm now at work and my coworkers are taking turns arriving and asking me why it smells like skunk in my office. It must be in my clothes.

    Damn, I hate skunks.

Bummer.. Our dog has gotten sprayed in the past.. Dove liquid soap and baking soda, make a paste. Add hydrogen peroxide and cake it on, let it set. (15min). Wash with regular dog shampoo. Then repeat process.

You can try every idea out there. IF their fur is soaked like ours were. good luck. The border collie was sprayed so bad she looked like she just came out of the lake, the retreiver same way. We ended up taking as much hair off the collie then washing numerous times in the different liquids recommended
What resolved the issue was keeping them out side in the kennel for 2-3 weeks till their soaked skin finally stopped reeking of skunk.

Bummer! The acidity of the tomatoes will work wonders. Good luck, stinky!

DAMN! That happened to my grandfathers dog during one of my visits years ago.. he came running back in from the pasture somewhat dragging his face, neck and chest along the grass and slobbering like a Saint Bernard. It didn't take long to realize why and without ever actually touching him, when I went inside my folks were pissed thinking that I got sprayed!

I hope you threw that dog bed out asap!

and now I'm mysteriously smelling skunk in my office!
