A very special kind of stupid when you mix guns and drugs, had to be on drugs to have that kind of discharge and then make up that kind of excuse to justify his actions.

Does he just plow a car into the garage door because no one taught him how to use the brakes or open a garage door that doesn't have a remote?

So if you don't know how to clear a firearm, there is this great new invention called Google that can help you with pretty much everything.

He's not the only one, either!

Back in my range days if somebody came in and wanted some range time and rent a gun but didn't bring their own we'd do a very simple test to see if hey knew what they were doing. Ask them to load 3 snap caps into a magazine, we then load it, then ask them to safely unload it. If you have a clue it's easy and takes less than a minute. During that last part the guy picked up the gun and started pulling the trigger. The dumb look on his face when I told him he failed the test was incredible. He really didn't know why. To his credit he safely aimed it into a wall away from other people.

Because society has become urbanized and a large portion of the population no longer has a connection to the land or to being self reliant, we now rely on public schools to teach the basics of life to our children. A job mom and dad should be doing but they weren't raised much better.
I say we implement gun safety classes in schools. Make it part of the regular health class. We teach kids about sex and drugs. And the anti's are always screeching how gun deaths should be treated as a public health issue. Here is your solution. Teach real gun safety. Just the basics. 1. treat every gun as loaded 2. never point gun at anything or anyone you don't want to see destroyed, etc. etc. Teach how to load and unload. Just the basics of function and safe handling. No propaganda no agenda, just simple safety. I don't care if the kid grows up to own a gun or not but everyone, even the anti's, need to know gun safety so crap like this story does not happen. Start in elementary school, again in middle and high school. By the time they graduate they have heard the message at least 3 times. Maybe have a weekend course for families to attend to teach safety and safe storage at home. NRA already has these programs ready to go. Why not get them into the schools.

This can also be a political club against the anti's. They claim to be for gun safety, but all their ideas revolve around fear, passing more laws and shaming companies to prohibit guns on their property. But the anti's never talk about real safety such as the NRA first shots program or NSSF Project Child Safe. They only promote fear, not knowledge. Lets shame them into helping promote real safety. Time to stop being on the defensive all the time. Time to attack the anti's for weak ideas and weak leadership when it comes to gun safety.

    My 2 cents worth.
