The Los Angeles Unified School District has their own police force, sworn uniformed peace officers in unmarked cars. They also have their own SWAT team, and ERT that can do hostage negotiation, forced entry, and extraction.

I recently read somewhere an opinion that the U.S military would never take action against the citizens of the United States, but domestic agencies would be the front line of martial law. Reports like this heap a little weight on that argument each time in my opinion.
