You know what I take from this thread? Baseball is stupid.

Baseball is not stupid, however there are some guys in the game that give it a black eye. Although Canseco may be a moron off the field, in hay day he was an amazing player. The steroid era came about and he made some stupid comments, called out a bunch of players and gave the game a bad reputation. Once he was black-balled from the game he went on to do some really stupid stuff which has been well documented in this thread. However your comments about the greatest game on earth are misdirected and untrue. Baseball is, despite what ratings and media may say, America's Game. It has fulfilled the boyhood dreams of countless players (including myself) and made some wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. Its a game that, for the most part, is played with honor and integrity and is one of the cleanest (even off the field read: NBA, NFL) professional sports out there now. I know this thread is about some idiot who didnt follow protocol and shot off his finger but to make a blanket assassination of such a great game is ignorant.

If you think I based that opinion solely on Canseco shooting himself in the hand then you're mistaken.

Jose Canseco nowadays is a dumb-ass...but back in his prime, he was a great ball player!!

Jose Canseco was never a great ball player. He was a great hitter. Just because you can hit doesn't make you a great ball player.
