I currently only have 2 AK type rifles. An Arsenal SGL21 (paid just over $800 about 5yrs ago / now $1250 from FIME) and a M&M M10-762 i got used for $475. They perform the same in my experience.

Here's a good deal. Built on the Hungarian FEG receiver.

Do your research and be careful with used low end stuff and some new. My fist AK was a Polish under folder built from a parts kit. The stamped receiver was poorly bent and the rails did not always function correctly causing a jambs. Sold it to a friend for parts only.
I now have two and because of the bad experience I went with a used Arsenal SLR101S milled Bulgarian 7.62x39 and a used Arsenal SGL31 stamped Russian 5.45x39. Two very different but similar high quality guns from opposite ends of the AK spectrum, could not be happier and would not want a less quality product. Just because a gun functions does not make it the one to buy. It's sort of funny with AK's how people will say who cares about quality and turn around and tell you to not to buy a Hi-Point. Just because somebody can copy a product does not mean the product is as good as the original.
A lot of AK's in this country are low quality because early on the ban on Chinese guns and general demand out stripped supply of quality guns. Also back then Americans expected AK's to be significantly lower in quality compared to an AR. Now days savvy buyers are seeing and demanding higher quality AK's. Don't buy something you will regret and loose money trying to get rid of it. Nothing wrong with paying for a name if you are getting quality or perceived quality in the eyes of the public, in the form of higher value and resale.

I like the AMD65's that they were selling back then for $399 that had the shorter 12.5" barrel and a pinned and welded long muzzle break. I always wanted one with that short factory barrel to do a SBR using a standard muzzle break. Not sure I like this new one with the long barrel as well.

ok so whats up with FEG reciever? is it just a higher quality part?

this AMD65 looks kind of strange, can you use standard AKM furniture if you want?
I guess all it needs is flip the gas tube for a railed tube, to mount the optic.
Yes the FEG is a higher quality part,it is a true Hungarian made ak receiver.Same ones they use for their military, minus the auto hole and notch in the rail. Most others are just a copy.
As far as furniture you would have to mod standard furniture to fit.The lower handguard has slightly different contour up front where the retainer is and just a tad shorter. And to put on a standard non folding stock you would have to swap out the rear trunnion., meaning you'd have to remove the rivits and re drill for the new one.
FHUGETABOUDIT!!!
You want to find one of the Zastava PAP rifles with the hammer forged chrome lined barrels, those are the best on the market now for the money.
I'd rather have a romanian then a us made chromo bbl. (unless it was an underfolder for like $400)
