I HATE PETA because they are a bunch of domestic terrorists, but I don't go out of my way to torture animals because they wouldn't like it. Nor do I drunk drive to piss of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Way to give the attention that this group is seeking.

This stupid idea was obviously not the brainchild of a father. "Turn off unnecessary lights for one hour"? One hour? Turn the damn lights off if you're not using them and leave them off! Do you think electricity is free? Is there an invisible man in your room reading a book? Well he can pay rent and pitch in for the power bill, and maybe he's the one you're standing there with the refrigerator door open for? I guess he must be blind and can't see that there's nothing in there he wants to eat, so there's no reason to leave all the damn lights on!

FINALLY, maybe the kids actually learned something useful from of all this enviro-BS they keep bringing home from public school! Alas, you are probably correct, they will turn off the lights for an hour then go around and turn on all the lights and TV's again after they have fulfilled their need to be cool. Bet they don't stop texting during the hour though!

I'm not going out of my way to turn things on, but I'm sure as heck not turning anything off just to participate!

I stepped outside to look at how my neighbors are handling this "Earth Hour" thing. (Yeah, I know, standing in my yard looking around at the neighborhood, I'm just begging to get a felony menacing charge.)

It appears as if NO ONE around me is participating in this "event".
