Double-edged sword. You know the antis are going to have a field day claiming that the government is protecting those evil gun companies, and that the NRA has their fingers in the system, and the right wing nutjobs punish innocent families for seeking justice.

As far as I'm concerned, the suit was a win-win for the left.

This should in no way be blamed on people or companies for using or providing the same products or services.

We resent being punished for the actions of deranged individuals, it implies that we are as well.
There are 100's of millions of responsible gun owners who never harm anyone.

    Anyone care to add?
This sums it up perfectly. Well stated. Obviously our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. No family should have to go through such a situation, which is why we all advocate for good men and women to be armed and prevent themselves from being victimized by such predators as James Holmes.

The Brady Center just became part of a valuable life lesson (not that they learned anything from it).... Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

That is why the Brady campaign signed on to this, they knew win or lose that they would have the victims in their corner and that it could be used for propaganda later on. I bet they did not count on getting stuck with the legal fees though.
If the perception is the victims' families have damages that need to be resolved, there are other liable parties who are DIRECTLY responsible for what Holmes did to include CU (therapist and campus PD) and his parents who supported him knowing his mental state and the danger that posed.

The lawsuit against ammo retailers is political and I think a lot of people get that.

I disagree. It's a win for common sense. This battle isn't impossible. The battle is half lost if we are always on the defensive. We need more wins in the courts and more votes that go our way. Big Bears appleseed projects is the kind of things that will bring people around. Need a nation of shooters.

This is a win for gun owners. It has to be understood what the antigun proponents are trying to do. They have brought this and other law suits against everything gun related for one reason. They are pursuing changing how gun are viewed under tort law. They want to make guns an ultrahazardous activity where strict liability was the rule to be followed. This is not new. It has consistently been tried for a number of years and so far has failed.

This lawsuit was an old school attack by the antigunners.
