Default Need help removing AK gas block

Got the pins out of the front sight and the gas block with no problem. The front sight pressed off easily. I can't seem to figure out the best way to rig up on the gas block to get it off.

Anyone have any thoughts on the best way to get something behind the gas block to press it off?

    Thanks.

There's a guy in your hood who can do it. It's better using a press to pop it off. If you're local guy is tied up drop in and use my press. Before you give it another try, let it soak over night in some hoppes cleaner to loosen that burnt powder residue. Or any gun cleaner you have on hand. DO NOT USE BRAKE OR CARB KLEEN.

Pickling it in Kroil right now. Have a press to get it apart. Just seems like I might need to make some sort of tool to rig up under the block. The setup I used for the front sight won't work.

I've got one of these and a press if you can't get it to budge.. Basically each cutout is sized for each barrel component.

That looks like just the ticket. Might have to fabricate something similar tomorrow.

I was going to try a wrench. Seems nothing was quite the right size.

Yeah. Ended up cheating a bit. Was trying to take the lower handguard retainer off and save it but found out I could get a new one for $20 so I just cut the old one off.

You'll probably find it hard to believe BUT... I have 1 or 2 in the parts bin.
