For those of you that don't know, I got my private pilots license a bit ago. This weekend I flew down to Texas in my buddies Cessna with him and my CFI to look at a plane. Ended up flying both of them back.

Its an older, but well maintained 1966 Beechcraft Super Musketeer III. Got a killer deal on it. Full service records all the way back to 1966 when it was new. It needs some cleaning, and the paint is chipped, cracked or faded in many parts, but it is fully safe and airworthy and is great to fly.

I'll be cleaning is up inside and out, refinishing the dash, panel back plate, flap lever and some support braces that have a bit of tarnish. I will decide if this is my long term bird, or just a stepping stone to trade-in on something with more power, nicer avionics and more capable of mountain flying down the road. This one will do mountains, but will need a pretty perfect day to do it safely. If I decide to keep this one long term (more than 5 years) I'll probably invest in getting it re-painted, and some upgrades on GPS and avionics, as they are all pretty old (but still work).

Its at KEIK (Erie) right now. The buddy with the Cessna was nice enough to let me share his Hangar while I find a permanent place to store it. It isn't easy, you have to be on a long waitlist, or really pound the ground looking for people about to sell a plane but wanting to lease or sub their owned hangar, or sublease their leased hangar if you want something sooner.

I'm really hoping to find someone at KEIK that lives in the airpark with a hangar on their house willing to trade flight time for hangar space. Or similar deal for someone that owns a hangar at KBJC.
