Weirdest thing you saw/heard when hunting or fishing

I was bowhunting. White Nikes with purple swoosh on them...I had better eyes back then.

Actually, i kind of panicked. I thought maybe they were anti-hunters trying to get a hunter busted so I said nothing. But the 8x rangefinder was nice once my pulse dropped a bit. They never saw me since I was all in camo and a blind.

Was bow hunting whitetails. Think I was 19. Had a bear start coming up my ladder stand. He/she was fun to watch till the paws went on the bottom rung of the ladder. Came all the way up to the platform with her nose, then she caught the heel of my boot. Changed my underroos when I got home that evening.

This must happen more often than we think. I've heard of two guys in GA that had this same thing happen to them, and have seen several more on youtube! That's pretty wild.

Was it coming into rutt?

I know a few other people it has happened to also. All during early fall bow hunting and all using doe in heat. I think it was just checking out the piss doe in heat on my boots. I never moved, just following smell.

I don't know if either of them were using doe piss, but it was definitely in the fall... hunting season in GA is quite a bit different than CO (September-January), so know it wasn't quite winter yet.... Just ironic, is all.

Years ago while hunting with my dad we spotted a deer that looked like it had been shot and was still kicking around a little, we stalked closed to discover it was a mountian lion kill and was being eaten by the mountain lion, as we got closer the lion poked his head up and was covered in blood. I remember thinking to myself... that's doesn't look like the mountain lions you see in pictures or in movies, damnest thing i ever saw.

A saddle, tack, and pack that was obviously from a year or two earlier.

A a small deer that impaled itself jumping over a downed log.

That's some interesting stuff to leave behind. I wonder what happened

I'm hoping to add a new story after my first Elk hunt, this year. As mentioned before in an earlier post, I grew up hunting white tail back east, but haven't gotten into the Colorado variant of much-bigger-game-hunting, since moving here. It's just not something I'd want to do alone. Quartering and packing out an Elk, that is... I'm heading over to unit 54 near Gunnison in the fall with a good friend of mine who goes there annually. Hopefully we'll have a couple good stories to share...
