Default Pistol for IDPA CCP division?

Wasn't sure the best place to post this so I'll start here.

    Anyhow...

Going to try and shoot in the new CCP division at next months CRC IDPA match. Without going into great detail, I'm basically needing to shoot a pistol with a barrel of 4.1" or less and capable of 8+1 capacity.

I have several options sitting in the safe but just need to make a decision.

The Glock 19 would probably give me the biggest advantage because even though it qualifies for this division it is a fairly large gun and pretty easy to shoot well. Does seem a bit silly to take a gun capable of 15+1 rounds and throttle it back that much on capacity.

The Glock 26 would be a fairly good choice as well and decreasing the capacity by just a couple of rounds wouldn't irk me so much and this is the way I'm leaning right now.

I also have the little 43 that I carry and it would be cool to get it out and play with it at the match. I shoot it well enough to be comfortable with using it in the match. The 6+1 capacity would put me at a slight competitive disadvantage though. I could order some extra magazines and put some +2 extensions on them just for competing with. Of course that means spending money I don't really want to spend right now.

Anyhow, leaning towards taking the 26 out. Just wanted to see if any of you had an opinion.

    Thanks.

I'd say outfit the 43 if possible, especially since you carry it. Would you have to buy new mags and the extensions or do you have enough mags that you just need to +2 some? ( I just reread your post, I'm working on my reading AND comprehension, new mags and +2s needed) I don't have any idea what it would cost to do either and it's not my money so it's easy for me to say that. I just started shooting IDPA again with my shield. I used shoot with my XDsc before there was a CCP. I wouldn't see any reason to download the XDsc or a 19 or 26 just to shoot that division. What did you shoot last month? I was thinking you were CCP with an XDs but I guess not

    Lol.

If I went with the 43 I would buy new magazines just for the game. I wouldn't want the extensions on my every day magazines. Partly because I don't know if I could 100% trust them and partly because it adds length to the grip that I don't want.

Umm. Because that's the rule. SSP and ESP are limited to ten rounds in the magazine and CCP is limited to eight.

Last month I was shooting a stock 19 in SSP. Yesterday I was shooting a 34.

I think the main reason I don't want to shoot the 19 in CCP is because if I'm going to shoot it I'd rather shoot it in SSP or ESP.

That was my point with the XDsc and the 19 and 26.

I had no idea that you were supposed to download to only 8+1 in CCP. That alone will stop me from competing in that class anymore, even though my M&P40c qualifies on barrel length.

I think there would be no better way to earn the trust of +2 base plates than shooting a few matches with them. Also, you could always shoot a few matches with each gun just to see what you feel like doing. It will only cost you mags and holsters, which you probably wouldn't mind having anyway right?

I recall you were shooting SSP and downloading to 10 rounds.

It's all silly; you just have to make a call on where you stand, as far as competitive advantage, versus personal development.

    The G19 is a category-slayer.

If you carry a 43, maybe that's better for developing your CCW skills. But I'd contend that if you took the 3 hours and $20 for a match, and threw it into a side berm and an extra box of ammo, you could construct scenarios and a training regimen that would do much better for your personal growth.

That's the rule. Pretty sure I saw a guy or two last month shooting CCP and ripping off ten rounds before reloading.

Although, if everyone keeps getting away with it then maybe I could load a few more rounds in my SSP or ESP guns as well.
