My 10 year old son was just in the barn doing his feeding chores and saw a rattler. He ran up to the house to tell me, so we went down and found him. Unfortunately he was curled up on some extension cords. I tried to move him so I could kill him. He took off under the hay stack. We went and ate supper then came back down to find him. My son had his Stoegger 12 gauge coach gun he uses for SASS. The snake had came back out and was almost under my flatbed truck (in the barn) I made sure he had a clean shot, with no chance for collateral damage (my truck, tractor, etc) Then he shot this rattlesnake. Its not big, but it could have bit him when he was down at the barn alone. Im glad its dead.

In western Oklahoma we had rattlesnake roundups in Okeene and Waynoka every year. Basically a contest with prizes for biggest snakes, most snakes, etc. A small-town festival with carnival and all the usual hoo-rah. Yes, plenty of fried snake to eat too! A big corral full of rattlesnakes is pretty impressive, but they stink something fierce.
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

Nice of you to blur the snake's face. Nice shot kid.

You're telling me. Shooting them with a 9mm snake round does a number on them, I can't even imagine a 12 gauge.
