Yeah, it was a half second blip in the tease, Ray.

Madison figured out that chick called the mil and "reported" the Mom and the druggy as medical/ zombie risks? ....that's why they came and took them away. I bet the kid gets bit while he's getting "treatment" or whatever.

It also looks from the TWD teaser that Daryl and Rick might be butting heads right out of the gate this season of that. dunno. I remember Morgan also kinda being pissed off at Rick in the last episode that aired. Should that be in the other thread? Meh. Not trying to do TWD in this one, just mentioning teasers.

So, I'm not gonna lie, I've been kind of wondering where this show was going to go. I was hoping it would spend some time going into a hypothetical governmental response showing what was happening in government as things started to go to Hell and then using the family to illustrate what the results of those decisions were. I get it now that they are trying to show the confusion and uncertainty that happens when a normal family knows nothing and how frustrating that can be. It also is taking an interesting turn in that the dead aren't even the problem, but the government forces are the real problem currently. That mirrors a book (Tomorrow War, JL Bourne) that I just read that was fascinating. All of that being said, I'm intrigued as to where this is going to go.

However, I do have some complaints I'd like to get some feedback on. For example, they say in the last episode that its been "9 days" since it all started and already MAJOR MAJOR things have happened. The government has declared martial law, invalidated Posse Comitatus and organized a response that includes camps and a soon to be initiated counter attack into the city. I have to say, in a TEOTWAWKI/Zombie Apocalypse situation it might be 9 WEEKS for all of that to happen, if it happened at all. I mean, think about it...in episode three, the soldiers show up at the last minute in full MOPP and an understanding of what the infected look and act like and with ROE that allows shooting on sight. If that is episode 3 then that's like day 3-5! You mean to tell me in 3-5 days the CDC analyzed what was going on, did testing, realized that this was a zombie virus and therefore we had to "kill 'em all Let God sort 'em out" and then go to the government, present that evidence, have it acted on and troops deployed in organized manner and, and, and....Plus that allows only a couple of days to get camps planned, organized, executed, built and a routine to set in. Again, that's a "weeks, not days" situation in the best of times. I would think (again, if it happened at all) that under the absolute mayhem situations, that could take months.

I'll get off my soapbox now. I'm starting to enjoy it and that's enough. I just thought I'd share my impressions for what they're worth.

To play devil's advocate here; if the outbreak & subsequent spread were fast enough there wouldn't be time for CDC or other formal bodies to study, research & decide. What if those who were responsible for CDC or said decisions were also stricken? At some point there has to be something that spreads so fast that normal conventional plans of attack can't be implemented nor can even their contingency be considered before it's too late. I think that's what they're trying to project here. Not some avian or sine flu but a legitimate outbreak occurrence where it happens so quickly we're just not prepared to deal with it at all as it sweeps the nation/world.
I'm not fat, I'm tactically padded.

That's the beauty of interpreting, and sharing your feelings about the series. Since it hasn't happened, it's open to speculation and judgement depending on where your mind is at on what you've seen.

    It's interesting to talk about.
