The red thing is a ladder hook, and the black thing is protective cover for Cougar Paws.
I don't actually plan on using that ladder hook with a ladder, and the rubber covers look like over sized, even more ugly Crocs.

Cougar Paws. This kid didn't need to rake climb like he does in the video while wearing those Cougar Paws, but you can tell he's never really been on a steep roof before. I often have to rake climb on 10/12s in my normal shoes or boots.
