    Default Light 12ga?

Jr. Wants to shoot a shotty. At 100lb wet I would like to keep it as light as possible.
What load should I look for? Need to find it local, north of Denver.
    Thank you.

Most large stores aka bass pro and cabellas have low recoil loads you can try

Plenty of 1oz loads made, even some 7/8oz ones too. May want to invest in a good shoulder pad also, at least a butt pad like a Limb Saver or similar.

Many shooters use WInchester Featherlights AA low recoil low noise shells.

Um...what shotgun. Without knowing that, a relevant answer for you does not exist.

My 13 year old was shooting .308s and full power 12g slugs at 95 pounds. Shotgun recoil management is more about fit and technique than finding soft loads.

Not sure about the gun yet. My only semi is a Sportsman12 with extended tube (1100 rem), it is a heavy pig and he has trouble holding it up. Boy is fairly tall and looks like an Ethiopian, (we are in the process of putting more muscle on him but the hormones are not cooperating). May need to borow a mossberg 500 from a friend so he can hold it properly.

I have a Mossy 500 that is setup for turkey hunting. 3.5" chamber, 20" barrel, composite thumbhole stock that was light enough for my youngest stepson to shoot easily when he was 13 with a 2 3/4" shell with #7 shot and he was about the same weight then as your kid is now. Plus you can always swap barrels and furniture later on. Though the XX Full choke on it kept the shot from spreading too much on a patterning board. Both of my stepsons have insane metabolisms. Oldest one is now 6' 2" and 142 lbs and can eat fast food 3 meals a day for a few weeks straight and not gain a pound, rarely exercises too.

Make sure that whatever he shoots first is properly fit. Enjoying shooting is not about toughing out recoil that is made worse due to improper fit. Take HBAR up on his offer. That is the kind of thing I love about people in the shooting sports.
