Default Payless Rental Cars should be avoided at all costs

    First,

I know it's my own damn fault for not checking them out, but we were in a hurry one evening to reserve a rental car for a 5 day trip to a family wedding out east and move on to the next crisis of the day.

I burned all my Avis points earned from prior business trips last year, so we were looking for the least costly option.

Enter carrentals.com I had used them before to rent from Thrifty - then found I could get the same deal direct, but we gave them another shot.

Enter Payless, the most despicable, vile, ripoff rental company in the world. Hey! look at that great price! No hidden fees noted.

So because the wife only uses a debit card, it has to rented with her card to pick up because I'm flying a day later. That means "prepay."

Today, her United flight through Houston gets delayed/cancelled to the point they reroute her through Hotlanta and on Delta to Charleston, and she is going to arrive 6 hours after original arrival time. She calls the car rental place and is informed they are closed at 7PM and that when she comes to get the car the next morning it will be at the "current rate." They quoted her $55 MORE for one day less rental.

Longer story short, I called them several times, got the major blow off, lied to, told call back for supervisors that do not exist, etc. and when they wouldn't budge on the extra fees I told them to just cancel the rental. They stated they intend to keep the full prepaid amount because their cancellation policy is 48 hours.

NOW HOW THE FUCK IS ANYONE THAT'S FLYING GOING TO KNOW 48 HOURS BEFORE THAT THEY WON'T NEED THE FUCKING RENTAL CAR.

Finally told them to stick it up their ass, we will dispute the charge with the bank, and they can expect me to blow up the internet, facebook, twitter, etc. until they make me whole again. I started out polite, but a guy can only take so much. I normally get what I want, by being polite and charming, and willing to make compromises, but these fuckers made my blood boil. ALL THEY KEPT REPEATING WAS THEIR FUCKING TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

PAYLESS CAR RENTAL CAN ROT IN HELL. I WOULDN'T PISS ON ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES IF THEY WERE ON FIRE.

I've since found out that Avis Budget Group owns this piece of excrement company so I'm going to start hammering Avis Budget, who is our corporate preferred car.

In the end, I ended up renting my own damn Avis car, she got a one day rental for tomorrow during the day, and we'll have to fight these corksoakers at Payless Car Rental if we want to get our money back. It's almost not worth the trouble, but Payless Car Rental needs to be held accountable for their shady business practices.

Had I only done one brief google search... I would have seen what an utter piece of shit company Payless Rental Car truly is.

I'll bet Payless Rental Car employees are all pedophiles and baby rapers.

Payless Rental Car company needs to end.

I should make up some signs and put them up at Payless Rental Car out near DIA. I drive by that turd 2-3 times a month.

You could install a really ugly horse statue where the employees have to see it on their way to work!

Fees for conducting business really drive me crazy. It costs the entire down payment to click a few keys to cancel the order? Loss of use you say? At the airport? Give me a break.

So, because of your one bad experience- all Payless employees are pedophiles and baby rapers. Nice.

The MAIN REASON i use / contact a place directly. be it rental, flight etc. Used one of those PRICE LINE NEGOTIATOR places to book a flight. last minute someone died deals. Saved $375. GREAT....
Till there's a problem at the airport, rental counter etc. Seems when you use a 3rd party. The place you're dealing with blows you off, IF there's an issue. Saying they're not responsible for 3rd part reservations and i had to call them.
Guess what that small print covers their ass, when there's an issue, like late or cancelled flight.

Agreed. Booked a hotel on a long road trip through a 3rd party, when we showed up the hotel (along with pretty much everything in else in town because of some dumbass football game) was booked up. When we gave them shit for letting us book a room that was already taken, they told us to kick rocks and call the booking company.

Moral of the story...don't travel. Ever. Just stay home and talk trash on internet forums.
