IDPA or IPSC

..... IDPA is more geared toward defensive techniques and looks down on tactics and gear they don't see fitting the role. USPSA is a game, and we just want to shoot stuff fast.

I once read where a guy explained it as in IDPA, if you didnt win you could always say..."Well I was a lot more tac correct and burned a lot of time." Where as in IPSC, they dont care. The overall score is all that matters. Humn....life is comstock.

SSDG? Not trackin. Little fried lately working 30+ hours at wallyworld and finals at college coming up.

As others have said before, it really comes down to game/shooting preference. Both USPSA(IPSC) and IDPA have their "market" and shooters that attend each will say that its the right or best thing for them.

The one thing that I want to point out that no one else has brought up is match frequency. Along the Colorado front range there is only 1 IDPA match each month, verses 8 USPSA matches each month. So basically, if you want to shoot in a match more than once a month you are pretty much only left with USPSA matches after the single IDPA match.

So come on out to both an IDPA and USPSA match then make up your own mind on which one is best for you. Both will give you a chance to experience shooting in a whole new dimension.

I don't mean that you have to choose one or the other. But I think that all shooters will prefer one over the other at some point. Just like having the choice to eat a steak or a salad. You could eat both but you would probably prefer one over the other, especially if they are the same price.

I didn't mean it that way either. Only that it cost the same to shoot each match, so might as well just try both.

There is actually 2 IDPA matches. Ft Collins (Northern Colorado IDPA) is on the 3rd Saturday.

Sticks> If there is another club hosting an IDPA match why don't they get their match listed on the Front Range IDPA (www.fridpa.com) website? They could also get their match listed on the Eastern Colorado USPSA website (www.ecouspsa.com). The ECOUSPSA website is a great resource for listing almost all of the match shooting events we have across the front range. You can find the monthly schedule of USPSA, IDPA, Steel, Bianchi, Rifle, and 3-Gun matches on this single web page.

Knowing when and where the matches are is half the battle. The more people know about all of the available matches the better for everyone.

Its an enigma to me why some clubs choose to not leverage the existing resources for promoting the local match shooting scene
