I killed another rattler this morning. next to the sidewalk almost in the lawn. I stepped off the sidewalk and just barely missed stepping on it. It was one of the baby rattlers. it wasnt very cute, so I dispatched it.

Wow, I just killed another one. 3 in less than 24 hours. This one was in the window well. I was walking by and it sounded like we had an air leak of some kind. I pulled the cover off the window well and this one was inside. This one died at the hands of my Boys Henry lever action .22lr.

Holy crap, sounds like a honest ta gawd infestation! Best to nip that in the bud. This weekend should put them back in their holes for a bit, though. That'll just make them hungrier. Time to carry the 686 with 7 rounds of snake shot at Pawnee for a while.
You're pretty safe as long as you see them and know where they are. AND you make damn sure there isn't any more of them! They won't chase after you, and they can only strike about 1/2 their length, maybe less. You can make a catching stick very easily with an old broomstick and some string. Catch 'em live and you can either relocate them or dispatch them in a safer, less messy location.
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

Damn, they are out already? Guess I need to start keeping the dog on the leash again on walks.
"The price of one liter of snake venom for sale is worth $235,175 (700,000 Malaysian Ringitt) when sold on the black market, according to wildlife enforcement officials."
I doubt rattlesnake venom goes for that, but it's probably a lot more than you think it is. Not hard to do, I helped do it in high school.

Looks like I might go out to hunt snakes again this year. Hope there are some around my place again.

If I see any at my place you can come kill them, Stu. I'll be inside where it's safe.
