It seems that a lot of folks are opting to use true 1x scopes in place of red dots these days. It's particularly flexible considering there are options with 1-6x magnification. It's a little bulkier than many of the red dots but I'd say it's less bulky and more practical than those red dots with magnifier setup that some people enjoy. The reality is most who aren't regularly engaged in clearing buildings probably are going to get more benefit out of a variable scope and can get pretty close to red dot capability at close range with one that gets down to a true 1x.
Bowers Tactical has a Sig Romeo4b on the shelf for the best price around $295, you can play with it before you decide to purchase it.
LaRue currently sells the MRO in one of their mounts for under $500.

Right on, I'd say Holosun makes Sig Romeo sights to their design and specs.
I went with a vortex strike 1x6 . It has an upside down horseshoe and a range finder crosshairs setup. I"ll let you know how it works next week.
