You have a point. But I think you're missing that road rage incidents usually take two people. The officer in question may be guilty (or at least something that allows him to be charged) but every incident of road range I've investigated continued because both people wanted to continue being asses.

This is very true it takes two. With that said he is a multiple offender. He is an officer of the law and should have enough self control to handle the situation, he is supposed to be enforcing the laws not braking them.

So your suggestion is that he definitely more wrong, no matter what the details of the accident or the investigation finds, because he is a law enforcement officer?

Just call *277 and let the Colorado State Patrol handle it. It is a special number for road rage.

Yes. Law enforcement officers are there to enforce the law not to abuse and break it. This is my opinion, I know you are LE so we can go round and round on this subject and we will never see eye to eye on it.

^^^ This. Unfortunately we're all human. Something I think a lot of people are overlooking with today's climate it the fact LE officers are being outright targeted by criminals. We have an administration that is practically condoning the murdering of law enforcement. As a former police officer, I knew that every day I put on the badge I was putting my life at risk. I believe that to be an even more risk now than it was several years ago. With our police being ambushed and killed, if I were still wearing that badge, I'd be on edge probably to the point where I would have an aneurysm. You couldn't pay me enough to go back out and work the street right now.

I also believe KevDen2005 made a valid point. It takes 2 to tango. When road rage ends up like this incident did, one person took the aggression too far and now they will have to answer for that. With the massive influx of people flooding our state, this is only going to get worse. Stay frosty out there.

I rolled through this shortly after it happened. I saw a uniformed LE talking to someone next to a green forester, driver side rear was tore up. That was a bit south of the f'n wrecked ranger, couldn't have guessed what that ranger was at the time. If it started in Gilcrest as they say, both parties had a few miles to make other choices.

I have no dog in the fight here - There are bad people in most organizations, law enforcement included.

[Devil's Advocate] What if the officer everyone is discussing was the victim here and the deceased was attempting to murder him with his vehicle? [/Devil's Advocate]

Officer's character aside, I hope the investigation determines the facts and guilty parties all meet the appropriate level of justice. I get pretty frustrated with the way other people drive sometimes. Nobody deserves to die over that.
