Amazingly enough, you can do this at home now. You wear this deal on your head that has 3 sensors on your forehead and a tiny nasal cannula that detects your breathing. It was dropped off on my porch Mon., I did the test Mon. and Tues. night, and dropped the gear on the porch Wed. morning for pickup. My Dr. had the results by the weekend.
A lot has changed since my first wife did her sleep study at Swedish about a decade ago. The CPAP units are also tiny, extremely quiet, fully automatic, and connected by CDMA modem so the respiratory therapist and my Dr. have the info. in case I'm having serious issues. I get an online report every day with charts that show how I'm doing. Pretty slick. I wish I knew I had this issue years ago.
