I don't see the issue at all – zero. The law says you can now enforce the law that's already on the books and says it's illegal to be an illegal alien in AZ. Good.

Oh, it's only if they have reasonable suspicion. So if you're brown, prepare to hear, "Show me your papers, comrade!"

As far as I know, this is the first legislation in the US that means if you don't have your paperwork on your right then and there, then you get a ride in this car:

completely agree. if some cop wants to be a douche bag and give you a ticket for doing 2mph over the speed limit, that is the law, you broke it.

the law is already federal, applying it at the state level to give officers a bit more security against frivolous lawsuits seems fair and just to me.

a lot of these people work to look suspicious. people know when they are drawing attention to themselves, be it by looking like a thug, or wearing gang related clothing, walking like they have a stick up their ass in a half limp look to "be cool", putting golf cart tires on a perfectly good truck, having a huge nike swoosh sign on the back of their car window with their name is spanish with their car painted the color of the mexican flag. that draws attention. after that all the cop needs is suspicion of them committing a crime.

Too many people miss who this law is aimed at- ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

you do realize the new AZ state law is a copy of the existing federal immigration law, right?

the illegals and those that support them are playing on freedom vs. fascism to further their cause. and there will always be people who buy into the bullshit (like those that are boycotting arizona iced tea)

the fact that streets in AZ are now deserted and businesses that cater to illegals are suffering prove that this is a good law that's going to work.

It will be interesting to see if there is any financial impact on Arizona. I have maintained that immigrants increase affluence.

Or, we could solve illegal immigration tomorrow, and give the US a chance in competing in the global market in 20 years. But now that everyone is here and feeling all entitled, they forget that their great grandparents or great-great grandparents came over here and made a go of it.

If your problem with immigrants is abusing the welfare system, then fix the welfare system. If you think keeping immigrants out of the country is going to help your career prospects, then you must work in the one or two fields that can't be outsourced. I don't know many people who do construction or service industry work.

what about driving without a license?
carrying a concealed weapon without a permit?
getting caught buying alcohol while underage?

again, it all comes down to drawing attention to ones self.
with close to half of the police force down there of Hispanic descent, and probably close to that bi-lingual, most of those guys can tell who belongs and who doesn't and are probably pretty good at figuring out if they are supposed to be there or not.

Those systems are designed to help those in need and they definitely need an overhaul, but reducing the monstrous number of illegals who take advantage of that system will help it along in the right direction.

I am not in either of those fields, but I do drive a car, which I have to pay extra insurance for, I do pay extra fees so they can drive on the same roads I do, I do have to wait in line for them at the DMV, I do have to wait for them while in line at the bank, particularly wells fargo, I have to wait for them in line at wal-mart, sometimes drive through the neighborhoods they have turned to shit, read about the rapes and murders they have committed, pay higher prices on goods due to theft...the list goes on and on. a large portion come here to rape and pillage and take advantage of the things we pay for, some of it we see directly, a lot of it indirectly.
