Basically a big ol' nope. Maybe its only certain models? Or a small batch that happened to be tested?

In other news, the US gov't is considering a lawsuit against Elcan for the EXACT same problem they sued L3 for.


In reality, this test was only low temperatures- I believe the concern is over temperature swings between high and low extremes.
If this guy would also bring it to 130+ degrees.


I do believe there may be a problem, but the extent is probably somewhere between the 2 extreme examples.

Denver PD pulled their Eotechs and are returning them. Haven't heard what they're going to.

I was behind a lady in Walmart today. She was trying to buy kids pants. Sale was refused as they were on a recall list. How effed up could kids pants be to get recalled? And if you look at the number of cars that have recalls, sometimes for simple dumb stuff. I have an Eotech and I like it and it works fine . I don't go from 130 to -20. I always check zero at camp before a hunt. Don't professionals check zero too? Point is, I think the fear of litigation, and fighting BS lawsits is eventually going to cripple our industry. Likely already has.

No. It's not usually an option.

You initially zero and then do your job. Maybe you check zero every few months (I check zero at the beginning of every deployment and then don't touch it for the rest of the trip unless there's an issue) but you don't get to call time out and check zero before you need your rifle.

The Eotech issue is much ado about nothing. Without going into great detail; we are still running Eotechs on our M-4s here in Iraq. 120+ Fahrenheit days are common and the new batch of Eotechs we got last year are having absolutely no issues. I understand that some people have trust or philosophical issues with Eotech, but honestly, I think the whole thing has been made to be a bigger deal than exists.

I am not suggesting an Eotech over any of the numerous other red dot style optics, just letting others know that Eotech 552s are still serving on the front lines without any problems.
