Just thought of something...I think judges have generally ruled that police can't make you unlock your phone with your password. With this phone, will the police be allowed to flash it in front of your eyes to unlock it?

Not any more than they can take your finger and forcibly put it on the fingerprint reader.

...and it doesn't open by "flashing it in front of your eyes". If someone tried to do it, just squint.

Wife got her Note 7 from FedEx last night. It's quite the upgrade from the Note 3. Very much like the S7 Edge with a stylus. The iris scan works, but not at all with her eye glasses. I'm not sure how many folks will use the iris scan as the primary method of authentication. The fingerprint scanner usually has my phone unlocked when I pick it up before I'd even have a chance to point it at my eyes.

I have a Note 3 and still think it's cool as hell. Best part is that it's paid for. I guess if I play with a Note 7 I'll feel like I'm using a Commodore 64.

Commercials have been this way for the last 40 years, making middle class men in general out to be stupid and dumb and women to be the smart ones. It is marketing as women are the majority in making household buying decisions.

Any reason you can't set up multiple passcodes on your phone? One goes to your main user, the other goes to a secondary user that doesn't have access to any of your touchy personal info? Or one just causes the phone to wipe itself?

I don't even have a dumb phone so I have no idea how the security on smartphones works.

There are some phones that allow you to use two SIM cards and you can switch back and forth, as if they're two phones, but they're not common.

For phones that have biometric unlocking, generally you still have to set up a password or pin number that you can punch in if the facial recognition or finger print scanner fail.

From a security standpoint, finger print scanners are dodgy because you have no idea if that data is being transmitted to unknown third parties, and unlike a password, you can't really change your fingerprint pattern if it's compromised.

From a legal standpoint, I believe multiple courts have ruled that the police can compel you to open a phone locked with a fingerprint, but they cannot do the same for passwords.
