Good for Jason. Awesome example of a good guy with a gun.
Agreed. Too much TV influence as to how this works.

Actually I've already seen liberal outlets and people all over this as saying only people with his level of training, and the fact he's a part time LEO, should be allowed a CHP/CCW. And that the average person is still not trustworthy enough for one. They've already written it off as a non argument for regular people to own and carry guns given his law enforcement history.

I was thinking the same thing. Good shoot! With the remarks about the suspect trying to get up three times, I think Falconer was shouting verbal commands for the suspect to surrender, he didn't, so he was delivered the taxpayer relief shot. That's well justified in anyone's book.

This was my first thought as well - namely, how would this be framed (and how much shit would this guy have received, including possible threat of prosecution) had he not been a former/reserve LEO, particularly in a 'no gun zone' (which if I'm not mistaken, the mall had no guns signs posted).....

Which leads to another thought - what if as part of the CCW process, friendly SO's gave people the option of being listed as a reserve deputy, or something along those lines, as a preemptive measure of protection and a big FU to the media, etc...

Being friends and acquainted with several district attorneys, I cannot name one that would dare prosecute a guy who "illegally" carried CCW into a mall and saved God knows how many lives by putting down an attacker, much less one who lunged at them.
On the point of SOs giving people the option of being listed as a reserve deputy- never gonna happen. Think of the liability if somehow that info got out and how much flak the Sheriff would get if they did anything stupid (drunk while carrying, attempting to pull someone over, trying to make an arrest, etc.).

At least this guy won't be coming to SuperMax like the NY bomber. Obama should give the guy a medal.

We all know the truth and can bring this up anytime the left says guns are not the answer to violence in the world. No one without stepped in to stop this violent criminal.
