Sounds pretty weak for a maserati... My 2000 pontiac grand prix did the quarter mile at bandi at 105mph in about 13 seconds. Give me seven more seconds worth of road and I'd be way over 111.

The road he was on is pretty short (for going that fast) and is nowhere near straight or flat. But it's pretty isolated (relative to the general area), so he probably thought it was as good a place as any. Poor choice on multiple levels and he paid the ultimate price.
