    Default ? on illuminated reticles.

Would it be possible to use them at night to shoot at something that is lit up? Looking through a regular scope at say a porch light I'm unable to see the reticles. Would illuminated ones solve this problem?

Most scopes that have this option will. I have an Athlon Cronus and I can see perfect illumination in bright day light on setting 10.

In some yes, in others no. For instance, the XTRII line from Burris, the 1-5, 1-8 and 1.5-8 have daylight bright illumination and that would help. The 2-10 on up have a different illumination module intended for low and no light shooting and at full power is not even close to as bright as the others at mid...would not help.

I helped a SWAT team set up their suppressed 10/22 for shooting out lights and we eventually went with a tube style red dot as it gave the best sight picture and they could add a colored lens cap to be able to discern the actual bulb. They typically shot from 20-100 yards away. Last I talked to them, they had about 1000 rounds through the gun in practice, none in actual use.

I have a Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 with the illuminated reticle. It's a game changer for targeting at night using a weapon light. Works well in bright daylight too.

We will be shooting at glow sticks at 2-300 yds so it sounds like they should work.

Glow sticks are much easier to see the reticle than a lightbulb.
