Default Google Docs SCAM virus going around.

Got two from teachers at my son's school. Don't click on these emails.

Don't click on stuff unless you know it's good to go.

That was the catch with this. Our school uses Google Docs to share files with parents, so it was not as unusual as other phishing scams. Just said a teacher wanted to share a document with us. When a new permissions screen came up that was the red flag and I didn't allow it.

    These scammers are clever.

I woke up the otjer day with several emails from Apple regarding $60 in app purchases. Thing is that this is an account I haven't used since I got away from Apple years ago. 10 minutes on the phone and the charges were removed and the account disabled. Some bastard in China figured out my rediculously random password. Nice.

Did you ever use it with other accounts from back then?
My guess would be they got it in a dump from some other website.

No clue. It's been about 3 years since I used it. This is why I'm leery of allowing Google or anyone else to "save" my usernames and passwords for just this reason. Am I paranoid?

Social engineering works. It may not work all the time, but it works often enough.

I'd like to reply to this post, but I'm still not real sure about you....

I've created a document detailing how to avoid the scam:

    Hopefully it answers your question.
