Forgot to address the givi guards vibrating. At cruising rpm they seem to get a harmonic vibration that is annoying. Some people claim they don't have the problem, yet a lot complain about it. I liked the price of them so I just dealt with it. I could feel it in my hands and a bit on the seat. If I framed the crash bars while cruising it was really noticeable. Highway pegs are easy. Just get a cheap pair and mount to the crash bars. A skit plate is a really good idea being that the oil filter is really exposed. Plus, you can go over a lot more with a skid plate. Like tfog said, super reliable and fun. Did many looooooong rides on mine

What made the final decision for ya to go with vstrom over the fjr?
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.

While I was poking around on the web for pictures, found some for a New York to Alaska and back trip on a V-strom and another bike. Both loaded with gear, including replacement tires. I figured that either has to be a comfortable bike, or someone really likes to torture themselves.

I haven't ruled the FJR out at all and will eventually get one, hopefully with cruise control. But, the two reasons were price (I got a smoking deal on this bike) and I went with the Strom as I want to give ADV riding a shot. Also, I'm finding out it's a great "tweener" bike as I'm sure the FJR is a rocket compared to this bike and this bike is a rocket compared to my Harley. So, I'm basically working my way up to the FJR. I've already surprised myself a few times at how fast I'm going without the "feeling" of speed and I can only imagine the trouble I'd get into on an FJR.

But, at least I can keep up with you better than I could on my Harley if we ever go for a ride.

    No doubt about that.

I went the cheap route and went with the Givi crash bars. Fingers crossed they don't vibrate but at least it can fall over, lol.

Next mod is a fork brace, then a skid plate, madstad windshield and a Corbin backrest. I'm hoping to put some more miles on it this weekend as it's only been out for a few short jaunts.
