    There are other options on amazon in the same vein. Some include the optical cable.

    What's your video source?

    If you run through that thing, you will lose any HD to your TV.

    You would have to swap it for each device..only one hdmi input. The optical conversion is your best bet as you are only sending the sound to your receiver.

    Just be aware that the solutions provided above will provide you with left and right stereo and not "surround" sound. Your next component upgrade should be a new receiver with either optical or hdmi inputs available.

    The optical out off the back of the television to a receiver that has an optical input port would allow any input into your television (all input ports) to feed audio to a receiver off one cable.

    well if I was outputting from the tv to the receiver it would just be sound. so why/how would I lose HD?
