Do you think it's ok to teach this to 8 and 9 year olds???

PS - do you think it's the school's (government) job to teach kids sex Ed at all???

Students can't recite the Bill of Rights, create a budget, cook or change a tire, but they'll learn all about transexual relationships. Nice. American public schools...preparing kids for nothing for decades. Now coming to a private and charter school near you.
Yes and yes. How do you not put sex ed in the same category of life skills as creating a budget, cooking, or changing a tire? It's the same thing and if any kids can't do those things the fault lies more on parents than it does schools. What was your public school experience? I bet 98% of the members here went to public schools, yet some how they were able to arrive at their social beliefs that fall in line with the board.

That said, I read the summary of the bill and it is a stupid bill and should not exist. FAR too much emphasis is being placed on potentially stereotyped "classes" of people. It'd be stupid to not teach that homosexual relationships exist, but the population is so small that not much more than a mention should be necessary. If there are homosexual kids in class that have specific questions, then maybe they can talk to a counselor or something. General sex education is what is important, especially at young ages. I doubt that k-12 schools have much of a capacity to teach about managing relationships, but that might be beyond what should be a necessary class anyway. Just like with other subjects, extracurricular questions can be investigated on the students own time, or if younger they can ask their parents. Parents should be taking the primary role in education and finessing or outright correcting the subjects their kids learn at school that they don't agree with. Aren't you all doing that with your kids?

As far as not knowing how to change a tire, balance a budget, or cook. Every high school I'm aware of has cooking classes. Tire changing can be learned in a 3 minute YouTube video and doesn't itself justify a class. Auto shop would be an extra class just like cooking. I agree that things like balancing a budget are important. Recently we were looking at the next school for our kids to go to and I was asking the teacher about such real world finance classes. She said they have a class for kids who are old enough to have jobs where they teach them to do their taxes. That wasn't at my high school and it should have been.

Irving, remember that this is not about honest sex ed instruction. These liberals are advancing the nanny state as we progress to socialism and finally communism. Their goal is to break the family structure and our country's foundation through every means possible. In this case it's by attacking our children in ways that we cant defend. They also get to spend your tax money with their cohorts during that process.

If a private citizen were to try to teach a child this CSE, they would be arrested as a pedofile.

And all 95K will be ignored in the media for the 1/2 doz that will paint a sob story picture how difficult it was to cope in public school. Had it not been for understanding teachers and programs like this.

Correct Kazoo, in fact the media is still providing misinformation about the bill. Shocker.

I don't think it can't be defended against, and I don't think a person teaching the same thing would be arrested as a pedophile, but I agree with the rest.

I wouldn't want to bet on it. Your kid goes to school and tells her friends and or teacher. Mommy & daddy showed me pictures of a vagina and penis.

    STOP THE PRESSES............

Cause i guarantee it. That's all the teacher will hear. Never mind the rest of her sentence was how babies are made. Oh no. Child services and the local LE will be on you quicker than you can say Attorney.

Yes, all part of their plan. The state can do things that you as parents cannot. This generation might fight it, but the next will probably accept it.

Eventually they will eleminate parental rights all together and through coercion they will make the decisions for you and your kids. This is the state taking over the family unit one incremental nip at a time. As time goes on the agenda will become more obvious and apparent to those who are aware and it will continue to become more outrageous, perverted, and tyrannical as time goes on.
