I'd imagine it'd be much the same reason we ignore or say that's a shame to any number of horrific goings on in Africa or parts of Asia from the Rwandan genocide, Somalia after we faced substantial resistance, human rights abuses in the former Burma, and god knows how many other examples. If it makes you feel better the world seemed fairly outraged at the massacre in the church in Texas, and at the Vegas shooting as well.

Speaking of the vegas shooting. What ever happened with that investigation. Besides the feds telling us they were at a dead end with leads? IMO that is one of the most suspicious "red flag" shootings. Hell even the "much lauded" security guard who made the rounds on talk tv, but didn't have time for a FBI interview has also disappeared.

A buddy sent me some articles shortly after the Vegas shooting, there were several inconsistencies and another 'person of interest' which never appeared in follow-up reports.
I'm not big on conspiracy theories, but maybe there are some things that were not investigated as thoroughly as they should have.
