PP deer and got my elk tag. Now to get back in shape for the 7 mile hike back in to camp.

I put on 7 (total) the day one in our party harvested. Packing that out was a bitch. First trip out was a hind quarter on my shoulder. Then we got the packs.

Actually, my back's still pretty good but the rest of me is already broken.

As expected I drew cow elk and buck pronghorn but am disappointed I didn't get a deer license. I knew my first choice deer would get me a PP, but nothing for 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices. Also PP's for elk and cow moose. I'll pick up bull elk and bear licenses when they go on sale in August.

In the combined seasons we go armed with multiple licenses and high hopes of filling them all but that seldom happens. Fortunately it's rare that I go home without at least one big game animal in any year. I didn't see an elk during season last fall so I dearly want one this year.
