Not a diagnosis (I'm not an HVAC guy) but that sounds like it could be a bad start/run capacitor. This is a relatively cheap ($20-$30) part that everyone with central air should keep a spare one of on-hand. Changing it out is a 10-15 minute job even for an amateur with no special tools required.Originally Posted by OctopusHighball
