Went to the motorcycle expo a few weeks back.

Some cool new bikes out there, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley had good showings. Other players, BMW, KTM, and a few others were notably absent.

Harley had a new concept bike, an adventure touring bike, looked cool, but still waaaaaaaaaaaaay behind the curve of other bikes.

It was interesting to note, comparing bikes (engine sizes) the Harley Davidson's were anywhere from 150 to 300 lbs. heavier across the board. HD cruisers were ~1000-lbs., dry.

Then you bolt on a couple of accessories, top it off with six gallons of gas, put a grown man and an overweight woman on it and suddenly you have a ballistic advantage over a Honda Civic.

Their adventure touring concept/bike is pretty much nothing that the adventure rider is after. Absurdly heavy, not up to the suspension or ergonomic standards of other bikes and their projected pricing is out of the ballpark in comparison with superior bikes.

Agreed. They are a lot like General Motors (when I worked there many years ago).... they just don't get it. They're out of touch with the market.

All I can think of is the shitty day they'll have if they're anything like me. First 50 miles, I pulled up to a stop sign and put my foot out.... and my foot found nothing but air (there was a ditch on that side of the road). An entire subway restaurant got to spectate as I struggled to get 550 lbs back up. Big harley, faghettaboutit. Tow truck just to pick it up

It's all about technique. There's videos of hundred pound women picking up Harleys.

Picked this fun ride up a couple weeks ago. 2019 Softail Slim, had 55 miles on it lol. Made some subtle changes and loving it. The M8 motor is quite torquey, plenty of pull. The redesigned chassis in '18 makes it amazingly nimble-yeah funny word to use regarding a Harley I only have 360 miles on it now. Looking to getting past the 500 mile breakin but with the craziness and the weather that might take longer than I planned.

How many bikes do you have at the moment. Seems like you get a new one every few months.
