Yeah, just plead your case to the DA in the nicest, most remorseful way possible. It'll get reduced. You're probably lucky they didn't tack on careless...that was pretty much automatic back in the day for 25 or more over when I wrote tickets. Not a big deal but you'll need to keep your nose clean for a while.

You CAN blame disgruntled speeders for the price increase but do YOU have a mechanism to recover any of that cost increase. I will look at eliminating the fee when I have achieved an eye for an eyelash territory, because I can.

My 87 in a 55 in Denver ended up at 3 points, 355 fine. I was one of 2 people in court that didn't require a Spanish interpreter, and the only one that could present valid proof of insurance when pulled over, or in court.

Yea this in spades. The dregs of society getting away with all kinds of crap and mouthing off to the magistrate to boot.

In all other prior cases, including one careless driving citation for blowing past an unmarked DPD in the mousetrap in the rain, I lawyered up with someone that golfs with some of the traffic court ADA's and would just postpone until he found a buddy teed up, paid a hefty fee but got off either scott free or 1 pt headlight violation and no insurance increase.

Last time I rolled the dice and skipped the lawyer (he had gone up to like $800 or so). 30MPH over at DIA coming into the parking/pickup/dropoff split on the west side where it drops to 35, in a truck. It was dry. Mandatory court in Denver. Never got to speak with the ADA. Magistrate said he offered (as I recall) 6 points reduced to 4 and a $350 fine. Insurance got jacked during the next renewal. I should have not dressed nice and talked back, probably would have dropped it to 2 pts and half the fine.
    My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."

Also, the DA’s first offer can be negotiated (again if your record is clean).

Apparently someone with the exact same vehicle was reported doing 90 about 20 miles up the road and they were kind enough to radio ahead with a BOLO

All of my previous "defective vehicle" moving violations are more than 7 years old.

Then you should have some room for negotiations. I remember the DA offering me a defective vehicle and I was able to press him to get it down to a cracked windshield or something stupid like that. Ultimately it’s up to the judge if they will accept the plea or not. I’ve had it turned around on me with the DA recommending a certain charge, only to have the judge saying something like “with your driving record, you aren’t getting any breaks.” Lol.

    What county was it in?

Can you still appeal the conviction?

Back in my younger, faster days in San Antonio, we could appeal the conviction up to County Court. County Court was always overwhelmed with real crimes that they would dismiss instead of bother. Of course, you had to cough up a bond of three times the fine, but you got it back upon dismissal.

Just wondering if this was still a thing.
