Ruger Mini-14 Folding Stocks Back on the Market

I never heard of this from any Shot Show updates this year. A company by the name of Samson Mfg, under license from Ruger, is making the original Mini-14 folding stock using Ruger molds and wood. Aside from using walnut instead of birch, and injection molded plastic instead of Bakelite for the pistol grip they're true to the original design. There are some minor changes like hex nuts instead of slotted screws, too.

They seem to be a little pricey until you find one from the 80s. $280 doesn't seem too bad compared to $1000 or more. There must be big demand because apparently they're 20 weeks out on fulfilling orders. About the only complaint I've seen is that the coloring on the walnut is hit or miss. Ruger calls it the A-TM (A-Team) folding stock...kinda funny.

Apparently the stocks fit all Mini-14/30 serial number ranges except those that start with 180. Their website says "all ranges" but apparently that's not correct. Ruger website says no to fit on 180 series.

The company is also making a newly engineered stock, similar in design to the Mini-14 stock, for the 10/22.

Had one of those on a stainless Mini in the mid 80’s. Now if they’d bring back the M-14 style flash suppressor/front sight combo again I’d think about accessorizing another Mini, but I would go Mini-30.

I have a 181 series GB but it's blue. They only make them in stainless. I've ordered two...if I didn't order I'm sure the price would go up $50 or something. They don't charge you until they're ready to ship to that's cool. I'll have to figure a way to color the stainless to more closely match my rifle. I'm sure right after I get one they'll start making them in blue.

When they finally catch up and have them in stock I will buy one. Been waiting very patiently since the mid-90's to get one for the Mini I got for my 18th birthday in the early 80's.

Almost bought a Colt AR for $1200ish about 8 yrs ago when my dad told me he'd trade me his stainless Mini-14 with folding stock (also from the early 80's with nice original accessories) for a Colt AR. This will be much cheaper - but I have to check my model number first.

I've been a fan of the Mini-14 for a long time. It was the first new gun I ever bought myself, from a hardware store in Bellevue, NE when I was stationed at Offutt, AFB in the mid 80s. I think it was less than $200. I still have a box of new 20 and 30 round mags that are still in the original white boxes Ruger used to package them in. Can't remember where I got them but they must've been cheap because I was just an E5 with a young family.
