Ruger is certainly becoming the 800lb gorilla in US civilian firearms manufacturing. Will they acquire Remington's assets as well? I wouldn't think Ruger would want Remington's rifles since they compete with Ruger's own offerings, but Remington is pretty well respected in the shotgun field, especially with the pump and semi-auto categories.

The only Ruger shotguns I'm aware of are double-barrel, has Ruger ever made a repeating shotgun?

As long as Ruger starts cranking out the dark series in 357 they have my blessings.

Ruger buying Marlin is good news for levergun fans ... but the Vista getting Remington Ammo is worrisome (as FoxArt points out, it does make it easier for government to attack a single point in the ammo supply chain and make the current shortage seem like the heyday of cheap surplus ammo ... also Remington/Federal could start acting like a monopoly).

But it is nice to see Freedom Group break apart even further.

One of the things I'm hoping for is that Ruger buying Marlin will light a fire under Henry to crank up production of side loading gate guns ... I want an otherwise standard Big Boy Carbine in .357mag with a damn side loading gate already.

Zundfolge, +100 for side gate. Not sure why Henry insists on the front load.

I have always viewed the .22 style pull-out tube as pretty comical for Henry centerfire guns- it looks like something you would see on satirical firearms YouTube channel.

The system on the "Original" 1860 Henry is better, even with the follower dingus sticking down and open track groove.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Ruger continue the Remington name and some of the legacy models like the 700. There are a LOT of 700, 870, 11-87, etc fans out there.

ETA: Although I don't have any idea if the terms of the sale included the name or other rights.

All Ruger bought was Marlin. The rest of the Remington Arms brand goes to a British real estate investment group called "Round Hill Capital".

Except for DPMS, H&R, Stormlake and AAC that are going to the owners of Palmeto State Armory and Bushmaster is being bought by Franklin Armory (the binary trigger guys). I had an article with all the details but I can't find it. When I do I'll just put the link here.

I would NOT BE SURPRISED if they flip that to BAE System.
